DENVER, August 8, 2019—River, creators of award-winning mentoring software, today announced the promotion of Laura Francis to Chief Knowledge Officer. A long-time employee and expert in the field of mentoring, Laura brings with her a wealth of information and insight to this new role.
Laura has been with River since 2000 and was part of the team that launched the first-ever commercially available online mentoring software in 2001, which went on to receive an Award of Distinction that year in the EPSS and Performance-Centered Design (PCD) Competition. Known as Open Mentoring at the time, the software now known as River has won more than 20 awards over the years.
In her new role, in addition to overseeing Marketing and content creation, Laura will also be responsible for consulting River’s clients around strategies for launching and expanding their mentoring programs.
“Laura will be an invaluable partner for our clients as they implement and grow their mentoring programs. She has been the preeminent writer around web-based mentoring solutions and her extensive experience and unique voice have been on display for years in articles, blogs, eBooks, and our overall message to the market about the power of mentoring. She has done a terrific job managing our Marketing function for the last several years, and while she will continue to manage and contribute to the creation of excellent content, it’s time for us to stop hoarding and keeping her time and talents to ourselves,” joked Chris Browning, CEO of River. “In all seriousness, we are very excited about this move and believe that our clients will benefit tremendously by being able to work more directly with her on their mentoring initiatives.”
Many of the materials that Laura has created are available for free through River’s mentoring resources section on their website.
“I am honored to be a part of the amazing team here at River and am thrilled to be working more closely with our clients in my new role,” said Francis.
